Car Rental Terms
The rental Terms and Conditions listed below apply to all of Greece: Mainland and Island. By renting your car from Plan B, you unconditionally accept the following conditions:
Rental period:
The minimum rental period is 24 hours, with a 1 hour delay limit. Additional delays are charged as an extra day.
Driver’s age and driver’s license:
Minimum age limit is 21 years & maximum 75 years. The driver’s license must have been issued 1 year prior to the rental date. In case the driver is not a resident of the European Union, he is obliged to bring an international license to be able to legally drive in Greece.
Pickup and return vehicles:
- Vehicle deliveries/returns at Plan B offices, as well as at the airport, are free of charge.
- Deliveries/Returns of vehicles to another location, apart from the above, will be charged an additional €20.
- Distances greater than 40km from the Plan B offices can be arranged upon request with an additional charge of €0.50/km. (minimum charge €35).
Insurance & Liability Amounts:
Insurance to third parties: Provides coverage for death & injury to third parties up to €1,300,000 and material damage to third parties up to €1,300,000.
Basic accident insurance (CDW): Limits the amount of liability for damages, depending on the category of the vehicle. The insurance pays for the damage to the other vehicle and the insured undertakes to cover the costs of his own vehicle. Damage to the bottom, rims, tires, mirrors, antenna, crystals and interior are not covered. Full Accident Insurance (FDW): This insurance is available as an option at an additional charge per day. Eliminates or significantly reduces the amount of liability for damage to the vehicle. The amounts are reduced up to €500.00 and the insurance covers both vehicles, always depending on the vehicle category. Damage to the bottom, rims, tires and tires are not covered.
Theft security (TW):
Theft insurance is included in the booking. Limits the amount of liability for theft or damage from attempted theft, depending on the value of the vehicle. The renter is not covered, in case of theft of all or part of the car, caused by his negligence (e.g. if he left the car unlocked or left the key in the ignition switch).
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI):
Personal insurance is available at an additional charge per day. It provides coverage to the driver of up to €15,000 for death, total or partial disability and coverage of €1,000.00 for hospital expenses.
Insurance coverage does NOT apply:
- if the driver is found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- for damages caused by driving on unpaved roads
- for damage to the bottom, rims, tires, mirrors, antenna, crystals and interior
- for loss of personal items inside the vehicle
- for accidents caused by a driver not stated in the rental contract
- for loss or destruction of the vehicle key
- for lost or damaged GPS Navi devices, child seats, snow chains or other additional equipment
The cost of damage or loss of the car is paid even if the renter is insured by his credit card or a third party insurance service. In this case, the renter is required to pay Plan B the full cost of repairing or replacing the car, which they will then claim from their credit card or other insurance carrier.
IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, THE CUSTOMER IS OBLIGATED, REGARDLESS OF HIS FAULT, TO CALL THE ACCIDENT SERVICE AND COMPLETE THE ACCIDENT REPORT, BASED ON ARTICLE K70 OF THE GREEK LAW AND TO CALL THE TRAFFIC.
Credit Card and Warranty Information:
ACCEPTED TYPE: American Express, MasterCard, Visa. Debit cards are not accepted.
An amount of EUR 930.00 to EUR 1,860.00 (depending on the vehicle category) will be held on your credit card for the duration of the rental. This amount is a guarantee in case of damage/theft of the vehicle. This amount is automatically released if there is no theft or damage during the rental.
NOT ACCEPTABLE METHOD: Prepaid cards and cash are not accepted as collateral.
You must present a valid credit card in the name of the primary driver to the rental office for pre-authorization of the deposit. The credit card should be embossed and may require a PIN number. In case you do not show a valid credit card, there is no required amount of money on your credit card, or the credit card does not belong to the main driver, the rental office may refuse to deliver the car to you. In these cases, refunds are not applicable.
Additional Driver:
In each car rental, only the declared driver is covered by the above insurances. In the event that other drivers are also going to drive the rented vehicle, they should be declared in the rental contract at the start of the rental. Required documents are a national ID card or passport and a valid driver’s license. Extras:
Child seats, snow chains and GPS Navi systems are available on request for a daily fee. They must be mentioned in the reservation.
Fuel Policy:
Fuel is calculated in eighths. The vehicle should be returned with the same amount of fuel that was delivered. Otherwise, charges of €12 plus the cost of the missing fuel apply. No refunds or credits for extra fuel in the tank.
Transfer by boat:
It is declared upon receipt of the vehicle. Written permission from Plan B is required at an additional cost of €25 per route.
Restrictions:
Driving outside the Greek borders without authorization (green card required), driving on dirt roads, transporting heavy objects and general misuse is prohibited. Charges of up to €98 apply for special cleaning on vehicles returned with an excessively dirty interior (eg food stains, coffee etc.) indicating misuse.
Administrative Costs:
In the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, there is a non-refundable fee of €62.00.
Traffic Violations:
The renter assumes full responsibility for any traffic violations and is obliged to pay any debts to the competent services. Otherwise, the amount of the violation plus the amount referred to as “Administrative costs” will be charged.
Payment Methods & Transaction Security:
Rent can be paid in one of the following ways:
• through credit, debit and prepaid cards of Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Diners.
• using the Masterpass e-wallet.
Regardless of the payment method, a credit card (Visa, Master Card) is necessary for guarantee purposes. The rental agency will hold the damage liability amount until the end of the rental.
Cancellation of reservation:
In case of cancellation of the reservation up to 30 days before the departure date, 50% of the prepaid amount is returned. For cancellations within 30 days prior to departure, Plan B will not refund any amount.
Contract:
Upon receipt of the vehicle, a corresponding lease agreement containing the above terms and conditions is signed.
